Ontario municipalities can now share innovative sustainability policies online with the launch of a new web portal at www.ogph.ca .An initiative of the Greater Toronto Chapter of the Canada Green Building Council (CaGBC), the ogph.ca portal is intended as a one-stop resource for sustainability policies by Ontario municipalities to facilitate the green building market transformation.
Ontario municipalities share best-practices, lessons learned and innovative policy solutions to raise the bar for sustainability agendas within the province.
Toronto, ON - June 13, 2012 – Ontario municipalities can now share innovative sustainability policies online with the launch of a new web portal at www.ogph.ca. An initiative of the Greater Toronto Chapter of the Canada Green Building Council (CaGBC), the ogph.ca portal is intended as a one-stop resource for sustainability policies by Ontario municipalities to facilitate the green building market transformation.
The CaGBC recognizes that the most significant advancements in the area of promoting market transformation to a more sustainable built environment have occurred at the grassroots municipal level. The ogph.ca site is Canada’s first-ever centralized policy web portal showcasing municipal strategies and implementation documents enabling local governments from across the province to propose, adopt and act on sustainable development policies within their respective jurisdiction. Municipalities are encouraged to share their knowledge and submit policies to add to the content of the online resource.
Municipalities across Ontario will have access to a range of policies on sustainable development including areas of water conservation, energy, transportation, waste management, and community planning. The Municipal Leaders Forum, a working group of the Greater Toronto Chapter of the CaGBC, is a primary driver of the project with the intention to focus on policy initiatives that work within Ontario’s regulatory regime.
The ogph.ca portal is made possible through the support of the founding sponsor of the Greater Toronto Chapter of the CaGBC, the Toronto and Region Conservation Authority (TRCA), and funding from the Ontario Power Authority's Conservation Fund.
