Earth Rangers Chapter Event - July 2010

July 8th, 2010

More than 55 Chapter members beat the heat and rush hour traffic to attend the July Chapter Meeting at the Earth Rangers Centre at the Kortright Centre / TRCA's Living City Campus in Woodbridge, ON. In partnership with the Earth Rangers Foundation and the MCW Group of Companies, Platinum Sponsor of CaGBC-GTC, the Chapter hosted an exclusive evening of food, friends, and fun in the beautiful natural surroundings of the LEED-Gold certified Earth Rangers Centre.

The evening kicked off with a guest appearance by an American Pine Marten, an Earth Rangers Animal Ambassador who was accompanied by animal handler, Shelly Turner. Guests enjoyed a delicious BBQ generously provided by the Joint Training Apprenticeship Committee/ United Association Local 787/ORAC and HVAC-R, followed by opening remarks and special announcements by Lyle Shipley, Executive Director of the Chapter. Congratulations to Brian Denney, CAO of TRCA, and long-time friend and supporter of the Chapter, who was recently appointed to the CaGBC National Board.

Andy Schonberger, Director of Facility Operations and newly elected Greater Toronto Chapter Board Director started the evening’s program off with an overview of the ERC’s progress and growth goal to achieve LEED EB:O&M Platinum certification by the end of 2010. David Bellamy, Executive Partner of the MCW Group of Companies, shared further insight on MCW’s work with the Centre on striving towards carbon neutrality. Afterwards, guests were treated to a special behind-the-scenes tour led by Andy Schonberger and John Pepelnak, Senior Development Manager of Earth Rangers Centre.

We’ll be on break in August but please join us for another soon-to-be-announced exciting Chapter Meeting in September.

Thank you again to our generous sponsors and partners. The Chapter is grateful for your tremendous effort and support!
